If you’re looking for an effective flea and heart worm medication, then your best bet is to buy trifexis. There are many different flea medications on the market. They come in many forms: topicals, shampoos, pills, powders, etc.

But at the end of the day, the easiest to use is going to be in pill form, as it doesn’t make the mess caused by the liquid topicals or the powders. And the shampoos are actually more of a “kill the fleas that are already on the dog” then a flea preventative. They are still nice to have on hand though, in case some fleas bypass the preventative measures. I keep both on hand.
